When most people hear the word yoga, they envision trying to tie themselves into a pretzel or a class full of near perfect bodies stretching themselves into poses that seem impossible. Yoga has become westernized, as an exercise, a task, another fad way to “get into shape”.
Yes, yoga can help you strengthen and tone your body but yoga is so much more than just exercise.

Yoga incorporates mind, body and soul. Now, don’t stop reading here. It doesn’t mean we need to start speaking in Zen. It means that it is a tool that incorporates the relationship between our mind (thinking), body (physical), and soul (life).

It is a tool that can be used to the extent that you choose- to obtain benefits that will surprise you.

Yoga is proven to heal, not just bodies but minds. A new branch of yoga is emerging, Yoga Therapy- which uses yoga to improve (and sometimes eliminate) many illnesses and conditions like high blood pressure, depression, and many others.

It is a fact that our culture creates STRESS. Through controlled breathing techniques in yoga we can learn to help our bodies cope with situations that we have no control over. Stress has been proven to cause a lot of problems in the human body.

So, all this being said, take a minute to think of yoga as something possible. Something doable for all ages, all body types, all levels and fully customized to your personal needs and desires.
